A budding branch of digital photography, lomography caught the hearts of many photography enthusiasts with its unique and colorful ability to spice up the appearance of images.
Here are 5 tips on how to make lomography a cheaper hobby
-
If you are just starting the hobby, it is recommended for you to buy the most basic camera. Keep in mind that the quality of the photos does not necessarily depend on how expensive your camera is. What’s more important is how you capture the images to make them look beautiful. In the end, the most basic lomo camera may be even your tool in practicing your craft and becoming a good lomo photographer.
- Before purchasing a camera, research on it first. When you are hunting around for some lomography cameras, consider the films that you will use. The kind of film that a lomo camera employs may determine your expenses while you are using the camera. Lomo films are quite pricey. Try to find one that uses a cheaper film that can also be easily processed.
- Visit bargain websites. There are a lot of good brand new and secondhand lomo cameras for sale in Ebay and Amazon. All you have to do is to search for the model that you want and the search results page will display the Ebay page of that camera. These websites are a cool place to hunt for affordable films too.
- Go for cheaper film processing. To save some money on film processing, you can have your film processed without the printouts. You can gather up all the film rolls, process them and save them in a CD for storage. If you are really serious in this hobby, then investing on a film scanner can save you lots of money in the long run.
- Handle your camera with care. This is a cliché but this is the best tip that you can follow if you want to make your camera last long. Take very good care of it to minimize expenses on repairs. Lomo cams are generally durable but do not use it harshly. You can also keep your unused in the refrigerator to prolong their shelf life.
Of course, all these tips are useless when read only! Get your camera and take action (and beautiful pictures as well!) :)
